Meet Ms. Vaness

From the time I was a child, I’ve been creating for children. Whether it was leading school teams, planning games, or making crafts, I naturally stepped into the role of organizer, teacher, and imagination guide. That spark never left me — and it’s why I’ve spent my life working with kids.

I’ve been a homeschool teacher, a kindergarten assistant, a nature school educator, daycare teacher and a caregiver who never arrives empty-handed. My “big box of crafts” is always ready to turn an ordinary day into something magical. Teachers I’ve worked alongside will tell you how I go above and beyond, spending hours designing activities that are not just worksheets, but heart-filled experiences. Every detail matters to me, because I know the joy a child feels when they see something beautiful made just for them.

 

But here’s the fun twist: I haven’t only worked with children. I’ve also been a lobster fisherman, waking before sunrise to haul traps on the Atlantic Ocean, and a carpenter, shaping wood into something strong and lasting with my own two hands. Those adventures taught me resilience, creativity, and the joy of making something real.

 

Now, all of those threads come together in Sailor & Summer’s Coastal Academy — a place where kids can learn, play, and imagine alongside a whole crew of storybook pups. In our coastal town of Happypaw Harbour, you’ll meet Ellie the Bakery Pup, Golly the Geography Gull, Capitaine Beaubark sharing French East Coast culture, and of course Sailor & Summer themselves. Each character has something special to share, from kindness lessons to geography adventures.
